Dick called Lola a force of nature. There didn’t seem to ever be a request or challenge she didn’t accept and accomplish completely and beautifully. Perhaps that was why she was invited to one of the Queen’s garden parties. More than this though was her devotion to her family and friends. She was so proud of her family, and we felt so pleased and honored that she so generously shared them with us. We loved her just for herself though. I met her when she stopped in DC and stayed with my mother before going on to London to marry Joe. When mom took Lola sightseeing, Lola, looking beautiful in her saris, was the sight most tourists were photographing being more interested in her than in the Washington Monument. Our friendship has grown steadily since we met in DC. She has been such a marvelous and generous friend so full of love and wit. She and her family have enhanced our lives more than we can say. All the times we spent with Lola and her family are blessings to us that will always bring smiles and warm feelings in our hearts. She will always be with us. Sent with love, Dick and Sandy
